In this work we explore some of the applications of the aspon model solution of the strong CP problem, proposed in 1991 by Frampton, Kephart, and D. Ng. In this model, there is a gauged U(1) symmetry, spontaneously broken by the same vacuum expectation value which breaks CP, whose massive gauge boson provides an additional mechanism of weak CP violation. Outside the neutral kaon system, this spontaneous CP violation leads to different predictions from the standard model, in which CP is violated explicitly. First, the CP asymmetries in B meson decay have been calculated in the aspon model and yield significantly smaller results than the standard model, implying that the B factories under construction may not see any CP asymmetry. Second, a recent work has speculated that it may be possible to generate the observed baryon asymmetry of the universe within the standard model. We have investigated this claim and found that this effect is much too small, by over ten orders of magnitude. We have applied the same technique to the aspon model and have found an increase by over three orders of magnitude over the standard model result. While this result is in the right direction, it still falls short of explaining the observed baryon number of the universe.
