The need for airborne platforms to perform surveillance and
communications missions over long time periods has led to a renewed
interest in the utility of lighter-than-air (LTA) vehicles. Airships
incorporating new technology and designs can outperform aircraft and
tethered aerostats in certain law enforcement applications.
