Predictions based on the hollow-emission-cone model used in describing pulsar magnetospheres are compared with observational data on several pulsars. It is shown that the hollow-cone model cannot explain the presence of more than two components in a pulse profile, the rotation of the plane of polarization of the emission from some pulsars, the ratio between the number of pulsars with two-component and simple pulse profiles at various frequencies, or certain other relations among observed pulsar parameters. Possible alternative models are briefly noted.
