The authors report high-resolution (3arcsec) Hat Creek millimeter interferometer observations of the 104 GHz 31,3 → 20,2 and 101,9 → 100,10 lines of SO2 toward the bipolar protoplanetary nebula OH 231.8+4.2. Both SO2 lines lie in a compact distribution associated with the central exciting star. In addition, the 31,3 → 20,2 line shows a blueshifted jet aligned with the bipolar lobes and the Hα bubbles. The redshifted jet is not seen. The outflow is well collimated within 4000 AU of the central exciting star and has a dynamical age of a few thousand years. SO2 is most likely produced in the shock where the outflowing molecular gas impinges on the local interstellar medium.
