The results of the first aperture synthesis CO (J = 3-2) observations of the protogalaxy candidate IRAS F10214+4724 with a redshift z = 2.286 are reported. It is found that molecular gas with about 40 percent of the total CO single-dish flux is just associated with the optical galaxy at the redshift which is thought to be a source of the huge infrared luminosity of 10 exp 14 solar luminosities. The observations provide evidence for a direct connection between an optical galaxy and the infrared source and indicate that metal-enriched molecular gas collapsed sufficiently, at least to the galaxy disk scale. The time scales for molecular gas consumption and the dynamical time scale of molecular gas are estimated. The starburst time scale is found to be short compared to the dynamical time scale, suggesting that gas is converted to stars very quickly before the collapsed gas system forms a gas disk.
