Celestial Mechanics: Artificial Satellite Motion
Scientific paper
Apsidal resonance causes the long periodic variation of large amplitude of eccentricity to the minor objects in the solar system (asteroids, natural satellites ,artificial satellites of the planets and the moon). Especially the larger inclination orbital satellites will be eventually plunging into the primary with the increasing eccentricity which implies an decreasing of pericentric distance rp =a(1-e)?ae(ae is the radius of the primary equator), which is much different from the dissipative effect. Theoretical analysis will be given in this paper with numerical examples.
