The expulsion of the geomagnetic field surrounding fireballs may account for the emission of very low frequency electromagnetic energy. Humans express a range of thresholds for the perception of electrically excited sounds. Variable propagation effects and local conditions along with human variation may explain the sporadic reports of anomalous sounds from fireballs.
