3C 194 is one of the few extragalactic radio sources displaying Faraday rotation measures (RMs) in excess of 1000 radians/sq m. A high integrated RM was found for 3C 194 by Aizu et al. (1990) using the 45 m Nobeyama radio telescope. We present high resolution VLA observations at 3.6, 6, and 20 cm. The RM structure of 3C 194 at 0.4-arcsec resolution reveals an enhancement in RM coincident with the northeast hot spot. We interpret this enhancement as the result of the compression of external gas and magnetic fields by the terminal shock which has created the northeast hot spot.
