Values of the linear limb darkening coefficients in two passbands (V and B) derived by several authors using the Wilson-Devinney Computer Code are compared with theoretical values derived from currently accepted model atmospheres. The results show that (1) contact and semi-detached binary systems yield linear limb darkening coefficients that systematically disagree with theoretical values, and (2) the few detached systems analyzed show much better agreement with theory than the contact or semi-detached systems.
