Models of axisymmetric nonspherical H II regions are constructed, taking into account anisotropy of the exciting radiation field and flattening in the nebular density distribution. The shape of the limiting surface of such an H II region is determined, and the brightness distribution in various spectral regions is calculated for different orientations. Specific examples are analyzed for the cases where the nebula is homogeneous, the density distribution of the gas in the nebula is responsible for the departure from spherical symmetry, and density decreases with distance. Image morphology is examined for H-alpha emission, radio and near-IR free-free emission by the gas, and mid-IR thermal emission by dust grains. The effects of orientation in the optical, radio, and IR regions are illustrated for a model with considerable dust absorption. An attempt is made to fit a model to observations of the compact H II region Sharpless 2-106.
