The tensor virial theorem has been used to analyze a class of anisotropic inhomogeneous models, for elliptical galaxies, which are characterized by simultaneous rotation of the figure and internal streaming motion. The case in which the two components of the pressure tensor perpendicular to the rotation axis are equal is considered. It is shown that anisotropy in elliptical galaxies is restricted to a relatively narrow range around the isotropic value. Results obtained for NGC 5266 agree well with previous findings.
