Classical S-type Riemann ellipsoids are generalized taking a Ferrers-type inhomogeneity in the mass distribution, a three-dimensional anisotropy in the dispersion in the velocities, and the gravitation of a spherical halo into account. A Ferrers inhomogeneity in the mass distribution does not affect the equilibrium conditions for the ellipsoids, but only changes the numerical coefficients in the equilibrium parameters. An anisotropy in the dispersion in the velocities does change the equilibrium conditions, expanding or contracting the region in which embedded ellipsoids exist. A halo extends this region in all cases.
