The paper examines the possibility of angular momentum transfer of the meridional circulation in the protoplanetary (solar) nebula, taking account of the role of the Goldreich-Schubert hydrodynamic instability. The nebula is assumed to be nontransparent to its own thermal emission; energy transfer is in the form of heat conduction; and convection, turbulence, and magnetic fields are absent. It is concluded that the axisymmetric motions induced by meridional circulation or by the Goldreich-Schubert instability do not provide conditions for angular momentum transfer in a nonturbulent protoplanetary nebula. A more effective angular momentum transfer could be expected in a nebula with turbulence or convection, taking account of the generation of magnetic fields or large scale motions.
