Consideration is given to the effect of projection contamination on the angular autocorrelation function in the Abell northern (1958) and the Abell-Corwin-Olowin southern (1989) catalogs of rich clusters of galaxies. A 'decontaminated' catalog of richness R greater than 1 and distance D = 5, 6 clusters is constructed using a robust model in which the galaxy number density is a superposition of a uniform field plus spherical halos centered on each cluster. The results of the decontamination process are presented and the angular autocorrelation function of the decontaminated catalog is compared with the observed cluster-galaxy correlation function and with various theoretical scenarios.
