Artificial Satellites: Moon, Artificial Satellites: Orbits
Scientific paper
The orbital variation of a lunar satellite is somewhat different from that of an artificial Earth satellite. This is due to the slow rotation of the Moon and the characteristics of the gravitational potential of the Moon. In this paper the above problems are studied in an all-round way. All the disturbing factors, e.g. the nonspherical gravitational effect of the Moon, the gravitational effects of the Earth and the Sun and the solid lunar tides, are investigated in details. An analytical solution for the orbital variation, on the premise of certain precision, is given by the method of quasi-averaging elements.
