An analytical extension of the field of secular geomagnetic variations to the core-mantle boundary is carried out, taking into account geometric damping and induction screening tau. The contribution of tau to the field structure at the core is demonstrated, and its upper limit is determined, which makes it possible to evaluate the electroconductivity of the lower mantle. Calculations of the secular variation field at the core are used to interpret the 'jerk' of 1970.
