New analytical expressions concerning the halfwidth values of the lines radiated by hydrogen and one-electron ions are proposed. The intensity variation of the corresponding line wings are also reported, allowing a smooth interpolation for the line shape between the line center and the line wings. This paper updates the various published theoretical results and extends them towards transitions involving highly excited levels.
