The three-dimensional shape of the trajectories of slow extraordinary waves is investigated numerically for a linear electron concentration profile. The collisional attenuation characteristics of the waves are analyzed, as are geometrical characteristics of the asymptotic focusing region. Calculations are carried out for the upper ionosphere parameters. Possible applications of the results include radio diagnostics of the ionosphere and space communications. The qualitative results of the study are applicable to all cases of the propagation of slow extraordinary waves in magnetoactive plasmas.
