uvby photometric observations of the B2 IV star HD 149779 are analysed. The star is variable with a light range of 0m.26 in V and a period of 1d.27. The variability is due to eclipses, and an analysis of the light curves by the method of differential corrections, using the model of Wilson-Devinney, reveals that HD 149779 consists of two nearly identical components almost filling their Roche lobes. The observed Strömgren indices of HD 149779 suggest a spectral type somewhat earlier than B2, probably B1.
