The dependence of the number of discoveries of comets with different spectral characteristics on the phase of solar activity is studied. It is shown that comets in which the continuum dominates over emissions are discovered more often near a solar activity phase of 0.550, i.e., after the maximum phase. Discoveries of comets in which emissions dominate over continuum fall at phase intervals near 0.200 and 0.800. A statistical criterion is used to show that these two groups cannot be related to a single population. The results agree well with the conclusions of Guliev (1990) on the heterogeneity of the system of long-period comets.
