The chemistry, accretion, and evolution of Mars and of Martian stratigraphy are discussed. The composition of the Martian atmosphere is analyzed, and the systematics of noble gas abundance ratios in the solar system and returned Martian samples is discussed. Physical processes in the protoplanetray disk are considered and the nondestructive sampling of a comet is examined. Other topics concerning analysis of comets include newly developed techniques for the analysis of micrometer-sized interplanetary dust particles and comet grains, isotopes in comets, cometary and interstellar dust grains, organic matter in meteorites and comets, the analysis of comet mass spectrometric data, and new techniques for the analysis of the inorganic cometary components.
