On the basis of the classical model proposed by Vasilevkis et al. (1958) a new method to establish membership probabilities in open clusters from proper motion data has been designed and developed. We have particularly devoted our attention to two main problems, the pruning of the sample and the estimation of distribution parameters. The method is applied to the cluster IC 4756.
