It is noted that the study of the linear interstellar polarization, using the parameters (P max, lambda max, and K) of the Serkowski's empirical relation, can give elements for the comprehension of the interstellar medium and, hence, of the interstellar grains of dust which are the polarizers. The parameters P max and lambda max are related to the column density and the grains dimensions, respectively. A characterization of the parameter K with the properties of interstellar medium, presented through a simultaneous determination of the three parameters is discussed. It is concluded that no simple correlation can be obtained if UBVR polarimetry is used, and a large number of points are required.
