IRAS indicates the complication for the origin of the infrared radiation of Seyfert galaxies. Besides thermal and non-thermal radiation from the active nuclei, there are two important non-nuclear components: contribution from cold material in the host galactic disk and star forming regions surrounding the active nucleus. However, the importance of these components to the IRAS flux is still an open question. In order to give an answer to this question, the authors classify the mid- and far-infrared spectra of Seyfert galaxies from IRAS data, and make statistical comparison of their X-ray, broad emission line, narrow emission line properties for these subclasses. In terms of these analyses, they discuss their infrared emission mechanism.
