An important element in the analysis of geomagnetic variations with periods of 4 to 100 days is the selection of a coordinate system in relation to which the first spherical harmonic P1(0)is determined. This paper develops a method for determining the pole position of this system with rotation of the coordinate system of observations from a series of Northern Hemisphere observatories. The pole position is determined for 1969-1971. It is noted that the results obtained make it possible to use the P1(0) source model for the purpose of deep magnetic sounding of the earth.
