We report the detection of a hard X-ray outburst of the transient X-ray pulsar GS1843+009 with the IBIS/ISGRI telescope aboard INTEGRAL. The source was detected during the May 1-11 observing run at a S/N ratio of ~20 in the 18-100 keV energy range. The preliminary measured fluxes were about 15, 10 and 10 mCrab in the 18-25, 25-50 and 50-100 keV bands, respectively. The source was below the detection limit during the INTEGRAL observations of the field performed on March 10, 22, 30 and April 5, 12, 2003 (the 3-sigma upper limits were 7, 4 and 5 mCrab in the same energy bands, respectively).
