We present uvbyβ photometry for the peculiar cepheid V473 Lyr, obtained in 1987 and 1988, and a detailed discussion about interstellar reddening, intrinsic colours and the calibration of relevant physical parameters.
V473 Lyr is found to be a classical cepheid pulsating in the second or higher overtone. Fundamental mode pulsations and a Population II cepheid membership are not compatible with our data.
