We are working on a project to produce an ultraviolet spectral atlas of standard stars from the low dispersion spectra in the IUE Final Archive. This atlas will comprise of approximately 550 stars that provide a thorough coverage of spectral type-luminosity class combinations. The stars have been selected to minimize the effects of duplicity, variability and classification errors. Most of the observations were taken specifically with the intention of creating a comprehensive ultraviolet spectral atlas. By using the IUE Final Archive products, this altas will provide higher signal-to-noise ratios, better photometric and wavelength accuracy, and more uniform processing than previous spectral atlases. The IUE Final Archive processing accounts for and corrects, where possible, all of the known limitations in the original IUE data. The calibrations have been expanded and revised to the best known values. All sensitivity variations, both with time and temperature, have been corrected during the processing. The data will be available in either hard copy or electronic form. The hard copy version will include spectral plots and tables of fluxes for the 1150-1975 Angstroms and the 1975-3200 Angstroms regions. The electronic version of this atlas will be deposited in the IUE Data Analysis Center and the National Space Science Data Center at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. This work is partially supported by NASA research contract NAS5-32483 to the Computer Sciences Corporation.
