We present data as an optical follow up to unidentified Energetic Gamma-Ray Telescope (EGRET) sources at mid to high Galactic latitude. It is our intention to identify potential blazars which may have been missed in previous studies, taking into account that previous search criterion have required that targets be radio loud. We have identified plausible optical counterparts for several of the sources by examination in the BVR bands using the Palomar 60-inch and the University of Wyoming's 2.3 m and 0.6 m telescopes, and of these many show optical variability. It is our intention to monitor these targets further in the optical under more refined timescales before inspecting them at a later date using spectroscopy to determine which of them are quasars and AGN. This work has been supported by NSF REU site grant AST 0097356.
