We report preliminary results from a spectroscopic survey to measure the luminosity function of the intrinsic QSO/AGN population and its evolution. This study is a part of the larger ChaMP program to investigate the nature of serendipitous X-ray sources detected with the Chandra Observatory. Optical spectra have been obtained for 100 sources in 6 Chandra fields with WIYN/HYDRA (multi-fiber spectrograph). An additional 50 spectra have been acquired on the MMT (single slit) and Magellan/LDSS2 (multi-slit) in various fields. The majority of optical counterparts are similar to those found in past X-ray surveys which include type I QSOs/AGN, type II Seyferts and narrow emission line galaxies. We present the luminosity and redshift distribution of X-ray selected QSOs and low luminosity AGN. The broad line AGN span a redshift range of 1 < z < 4 while the narrow line objects are found at 0.1 < z < 0.5. We examine whether Chandra's X-ray sensitivity at high energies allows the ability to detect obscured sources. We are grateful for partial funding of the ChaMP project provided by NASA through a CXO archival research grant AR1-2003X.
