An optical polarization map of the bipolar nebulosity associated with the evolved star OH231.8 + 4.2 shows that this source is the illuminator of filaments of reflection nebulosity confined to the axial regions of the nebula. The high level of polarization observed (about 40 percent) indicates that the dust grains reflecting the central starlight are much smaller than those in the ISM.
