In attempting to understand what causes nova outbursts, astronomers have
made very careful studies of a brillant nova that appeared in the
constellation of Perseus in 1901. There has been a whole crop of
interesting discoveries and many surprises, but now we are beginning to
understand some of the unique phenomena which have been observed.
