This paper analyzes results of observations (since 1985) on ionospheric convection and auroral arc motion made with an all-sky video camera at Sondre Stromfjord (Greenland) in coordination with the operation of the incoherent scatter radar. The observations of the motion of the airglow structures showed excellent agreement with the Doppler radar measurements of ion drift velocities. It is shown that observations of the motion of airglow structure can be used to determine the ionospheric convection speeds in regions where the radar is not available.
