An iterative method developed by Lucy (1974) for the solution of integral equations is applied to the problem of analyzing star counts in the context of a classical (m, log π) table. The method is fast, flexible, and particularly suited to computer solution with a minimum of operator input. Application is made to counts of M dwarfs in the region of the south galactic pole previously analyzed by Thé and Staller (1974); the results are consistent with their traditional (m, log π) analysis.
