The observation of the galaxy NGC 1058 in 1984 reveals for the first
time a spatial distribution of the light within the small knot in which
the supernova SN 1961v has bursted. The colour map shows that the knot
contains a relatively bright starlike component superposed on a fainter
slightly prolate structure.
