A study is made of the flow in the heliospheric current sheet (HCS) with velocities ranging from 300 to 450 km s-1. It is shown that plasma and the interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) in the HCS do not undergo, within the measurement errors, any appreciable compression in the course of an interaction with high speed streams at R ≤ 1 a.u., i.e. the HCS structure at the Earth's orbit is determined mainly by the sheet's parameters near the solar surface. It has been found that the increased value of the Bz-component in the HCS is attributable to two factors, namely the increased values of |B| in the sheet and the rotation of vector B in the plane of a sheet inclined to the ecliptic plane.
