In this paper we attempt to explain the origin of the Canis Major Over-density (CMa) discovered by tet{mart2004a}. We present new photometry for various CMa fields obtained at McDonald Observatory and CTIO. We obtained spectra at McDonald Observatory of blue stars selected from the photometry. Based upon their kinematics and their preliminary abundances, we tentatively suggest that the blue plume (BP) present in the CMa fields is a feature of the Galactic disk and likely did not originate from an accreted dwarf galaxy.
