We have undertaken a study of the age and metallicity relations in galactic star clusters as observed in the new Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) u'g'r'i'z' filter system [Fukugita et al. 1996, AJ, 111, 1748]. Our initial study has focused on seven southern hemisphere clusters: NGC-5617, NGC-6087, NGC-6208, NGC-6281, NGC-6405, NGC-6633, and NGC-6716, which were picked based on prior studies in other filter systems such as the UBVRI wideband system [e.g. Landolt 1992, AJ, 104, 340]. These clusters were chosen for the initial study to define the relation between constant age and varying metallicities, and between constant metallicity and varying age as observed in the new filter system. We interpret the observational data using synthetic results from Lenz et al. [1998, ApJSS, 119, 121] and new stellar isochrones developed by Girardi [astro-ph/0108198]. The results from this study will be used to modify the reduction and calibration procedures used in the larger study, including driving the need for further observations.
