A considerable amount of unpublished material made available by a number of observers has been combined with already published measures in order to determine rates of period change for BL Herculis stars in galactic globular clusters. There are 20 known stars with periods ranging from 1.13 to 7.90 days and it was possible to investigate period changes for 12 of these. In all cases the observations span at least 65 yr. Nine of the variables have increasing periods and the three other stars yield no period change within the accuracy of the data. No decreasing periods were found. The period changes observed may represent evolutionary changes unlike the more abrupt random changes which are found in the more slowly evolving RR Lyrae stars. The observed rates of change are compared with those predicted from post-horizontal-branch evolutionary tracks and found to be of the correct order of magnitude for stars evolving away from the horizontal branch toward the asymptotic giant branch.
