Total intensity and polarization observations at 6 cm of the high-redshift quasar 1857 + 566 are presented. It has an interesting asymmetrical structure with a normal radio lobe containing a warmspot on one side but only a jet without any prominent hotspot on the other. In addition, the jet exhibits two very remarkable bends along its path. The magnetic field lines appear to lie largely along its axis and also follow the bends. A few possible explanations for the morphology of the jet are briefly explored. Ram-pressure bending by the intergalactic medium or the presence of relativistic precessing beams seems unlikely, whereas deflection of the beam by dense clouds appears possible. Sensitive optical and X-ray data are required to investigate this in detail.
