The Livermore Optical Transient Search (LOTIS) is an automated wide field of view telescope which performs nearly simultaneous observations of gamma ray burst coordinates provided by triggers from the GCN. In addition, it performs a nightly sky patrol, imaging the entire available sky several times a night down to a limiting mv ≈ 14.5. This data set is perhaps the single most complete record of the northern hemisphere sky to date. It holds great potential for systematic studies of variable objects over hour to year long timescales. I will present results of a trial study of one field from the LOTIS data set, with emphasis on short time variability objects.
