Point photometry was performed in the infrared J (1.25 microns) and K (2.2 microns) bands on four disk galaxies: two edge-on S0 galaxies (NGC 2768 and NGC 4762), a nearly face-on S0 (NGC 4203), and an edge-on SAb (NGC 4565). The objective was to determine if the massive envelopes (or halos) which are thought to surround disk galaxies might be composed of late-type main sequence stars. The observations are consistent with the hypothesis that most of the dark matter surrounding visible galactic disks is not in the form of late-type stars. On the basis of B-J and V-J colors, it is found that main sequence stars of spectral type M5 and later cannot be an important constituent of the outer region of these disks.
