Type-2 QSOs are presumed to be the highly luminous analogs to the well studied Seyfert 2 galaxies, but extending orientation based unification models to the quasar regime is no trivial task. In order to investigate possible differences between type-1 and type-2 QSOs that are not solely due to orientation, we model the mid to far infrared SEDs of a sample of six type-1 and six type-2 QSOs. Our sample is matched in mid infrared luminosity and selected based on their Spitzer IRAC colors. We use data from the Spitzer First Look Survey as well as targeted Spitzer IRS and MIPS observations. A standard FIR color-color diagram shows no significant differences between the two types of objects. However, we do find some characteristic differences between the SEDs. The SEDs of the type-2 objects show deep silicate absorption and strong PAH features in comparison with the type-1 objects. We also estimate the star formation rate for each of the objects by integrating the modeled far infrared flux and compare this with the SFR found from PAH emission. Our results suggest that type-2 quasi-stellar objects have more dust heated by star formation than type-1 QSOs.
