Consideration is given to the problem of forming an image of an extended object observed through a turbulent atmosphere. The relationship between the instantaneous energy spectrum of the image and the object spectrum is analyzed. It is found that, under certain conditions, some image frequency components may correspond to the object frequency components which are beyond the cut-off limits of telescope resolution. This effect is caused by the influence of distant turbulent layers.
