An improvement on the star-pair method for determining the field distortion of a telescope is introduced. This version is theoretically strict; it overcomes the short-coming of the traditional method, and many star-pairs from one plate can be used for determining the distortion coefficients. Preliminary results of an application for the twin photographic telescope of Purple Mountain Observatory are presented.
