The heating mechanisms of the observed H I diffuse medium warm phase are investigated. The heating due to photoionization of the Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) is estimated. It is found that PAHs dominate the heating of the cold phase and that it would represent an important fraction of that required for the warm phase. The following topics are discussed: the PAH's photoionization cross sections, the physical quantities for PAH heating and evolution of heating with temperature.
