The categories of massive leptons defined by Watanabe and Sakuyama (1983) to account for delayed events in extensive air showers of cosmic rays in the energy range 1-100 PeV (by their decay after 100-1000 ns) are investigated in the framework of an SU2 x SU2 x U1 gauge theory. The quantum numbers of the leptons of categories e and zeta and the Higgs bosons are given in a table, and it is found that a three-category model is capable of formulation as a gauge theory which is compatible with experimental data on the Weinberg angle.
