The abundance of nitrogen in cosmic rays, N/O = 0.03 + or - 0.01, corrected back to the sources, is low according to Weber and Gupta (1987). This value, and the remainder of cosmic-ray source abundances, including those of H and He, is explained. Based on these assumptions, the cosmic-ray source composition has been calculated; it agrees with the experimental one to 20 percent. Only the calculated abundance of N is 47 percent high; however, the standard deviation of the poorly known N abundance is over 30 percent. The calculated N/O ratio at cosmic-ray sources is 0.047.
