Evolutionary sequences of models of planetary nebulae of different masses are calculated. The calculated line intensities are compared with the observed ones using an identically defined parameter, the 'reduced size of the nebula'. Schonberner's (1979, 1981) evolutionary tracks for the central stars of nebulae lead to results consistent with observational data.
