Electron paramagnetic spectra of humic acid and various fractions of
fulvic acid from a deep peat soil were studied and related to some of
the metals present. In fulvic acid, VO 2+ occurred in complexed form.
The Mn 2+ components all had a high degree of ionicity. In the humic
acid fraction Cu 2+ was present as a copper porphyrin-type complex.
